ROLE DESCRIPTION

At St Lawrence Primary School the Deputy Principal exercises a unique professional relationship of support and loyalty to the leadership of the principal. The Deputy Principal, Learning and Teaching leader and the Principal form the Core leadership team, who implement and evaluate the school’s vision and the school improvement goals. The Deputy Principal will provide an excellent role model, through supporting and monitoring learning and growth of educators and students. The Deputy Principal is directly responsible to the principal for the performance of his/her duties and deputises in the absence of the principal. 

The Deputy Principal is a member of the Core Leadership team; the faith leadership team; Positive Behaviour for Learning team; Intervention team and Child Safety team. The main areas of responsibility include:

• Leading as a member of the faith community

• Upholding the school's vision 

• Improving teaching practice and learning outcomes for all learners

• Managing people and resources, including daily organisation 

• Supporting the wellbeing of all members of the school community

• Overseeing and leading Professional Learning for Staff

• Working collaboratively with the Principal

• Supporting staff in Positions of Leadership

•Supporting the implementation and enacting of the Vision for Instruction, Vision for Engagement and Vision for Leadership

• Organising and supporting casual replacement teachers

• Maintaining and supporting clearly defined whole school behaviour support procedures.

• Developing and overseeing timetabling within the school

• Monitoring all areas of the curriculum

• Viewing, monitoring and giving feedback on work programs to ensure teachers are adhering to school guidelines

Creating and documenting the School Improvement Plan and Annual Action Plan in collaboration with the principal
