St Mary & St Mina’s Coptic Orthodox College is an independent co-educational K–12 Christian school committed to providing high-quality education grounded in the values and teachings of the Coptic Orthodox faith. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English / HSIE Teacher to join our English / HSIE faculties and contribute to the continued growth of the subject across the College. The successful applicant will be an engaging and enthusiastic educator who fosters academic excellence and models a genuine passion for teaching and learning.
The successful applicant will report directly to the Heads of English and HSIE and work collaboratively with members of those faculties to support high-quality teaching and learning.
About the Role
The English / HSIE Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective lessons while contributing positively to the culture and development of the faculty.
The successful candidate will:
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to the Christian ethos and Coptic Orthodox values of the College.
- Deliver high-quality teaching and learning programs across English and HSIE subjects, including Stage 6 Legal Studies.
- Work collaboratively with the Heads of Faculty and faculty members in curriculum planning, assessment, and reporting.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new syllabus programming, ensuring alignment with current NESA requirements.
- Design engaging and rigorous learning experiences that promote critical thinking, financial literacy, and economic understanding.
- Support faculty initiatives that enhance student engagement and academic outcomes.
- Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional learning, and whole-school initiatives.
- Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, contributing to a supportive and inclusive school environment.
- Experience teaching Stage 6 Legal Studies is highly desirable.
Key Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following criteria in their written response (maximum two pages):
- Capacity to uphold and promote the Christian ethos and Coptic Orthodox values of the College in all aspects of school life.
- Strong knowledge of English and HSIE subjects, particularly Legal Studies.
- Knowledge of current NESA syllabuses and assessment practices, including experience or willingness to contribute to new syllabus programming.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a faculty team and contribute positively to faculty initiatives.
- Commitment to reflective teaching practice and ongoing professional learning.
- Capacity to use data-informed practices to support and enhance student learning outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications
- A recognised teaching qualification.
- Current NESA accreditation (Provisional, Conditional, or Proficient).
- A current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC).
