Smithfield State High School is seeking a new Human Resources Officer to join our team. This position is part of our Administration Team and works closely with the Business Manager and school leadership. Additional duties consistent with the classification and requirements of the role may be assigned as needed.

About the School

This position supports the effective delivery of human resources services across the school, providing high-quality operational HR support to ensure staff are well supported and processes are efficient, compliant, and responsive. Working collaboratively with leadership and staff, the role contributes to workforce stability, effective organisational practices, and a positive staff experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating HR processes including recruitment, onboarding, staff movements, and contracts
  • Providing advice on employment conditions, leave, entitlements, and HR systems (e.g. MyHR, timesheets, claims)
  • Managing teacher relief and staffing coverage to ensure continuity of teaching and learning
  • Overseeing daily relief coordination and forward planning of workforce needs
  • Supporting workplace health and safety administration, including incident reporting and compliance
  • Maintaining accurate HR and WHS records in line with policies and legislation
  • Assisting with workforce planning, recruitment, and induction
  • Identifying and supporting improvements to HR and WHS systems and processes
  • Working with staff and leadership to resolve HR and workforce matters
  • Contributing to a positive, professional, and collaborative workplace culture
