About the School

Cleveland Education and Training Centre (CETC) is a Department of Education school based within the Cleveland Youth Detention Centre in Townsville, supporting young people aged 10-18 from across northern and regional Queensland. As a service provider within the detention centre, staff must follow strict safety and security protocols. CETC delivers education programs for 48 weeks of the year, with staff working on a roster that requires leave to be taken outside standard school holiday periods

Your Role

As a Transition Officer, you will support young people transitioning from youth detention into education, training, or employment. You'll work closely with students, carers, and partner agencies to promote ongoing learning and job pathways, and help meet placement and outcome targets. The role involves collaboration with stakeholders across Townsville, Cairns, and regional North Queensland, including regular travel.

You will also contribute to the school's strategic plan through data collection, program evaluation, and continuous improvement. Success in this role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to build positive relationships, and experience supporting young people with diverse educational backgrounds to achieve meaningful post-detention pathways.
