Rasmussen State School (Prep-Year 6) is a vibrant, inclusive school located in the Upper Ross area of Townsville, committed to student wellbeing, high expectations and strong community partnerships.

Rasmussen State School is grounded in Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL). The school provides inclusive programs for students with disability and offers a broad range of sporting and musical opportunities.

Special purpose arrangement – Partnership Initiative:
The Department of Education Partnership Initiative (PI) locations attract special purpose classification level uplifts which recognise the highly complex role of PI school principals. Under the Department of Education State School Teachers' Certified Agreement 2022 (clause 5.9.5), the Director-General may engage a principal at a higher classification level for a special purpose.
The Rasmussen State School Principal role is a substantive classification SL5, and under the special purpose arrangement is remunerated at classification SL7.
Below are details of how the uplift applies regarding Principal mobility arrangements:
- After a minimum if two years' service at a PI school, a permanent principal seeking transfer will be entitled to have their substantive Principal classification level permanently increased by one level above the PI school's substantive classification level. For the Principal of Rasmussen State School, this will be SL6, and a permanent Principal of Rasmussen State School would be transferred at classification SL6.
- Permanent principals who transfer out of a PI school with less than two years' service will be transferred at their substantive principal classification level unless a prior agreement is in place. For the Principal of Rasmussen State School, this would be SL5.
Leave entitlements during the period of the special purpose classification uplift will be paid at the higher classification rate, in accordance with Directive 16/24 – Higher Duties.
