Camberwell Grammar School · CANTERBURY, VIC
ABOUT US
Camberwell Grammar School is an independent Anglican day school for boys from Pre-Preparatory to Year 12. We aim to give every student in our care the very best possible education in order to prepare them for life beyond school. We are a learning community, which encourages staff, students, past students and parents to involve themselves fully in all aspects of school life and to identify themselves with its values: Learning, Respect, Integrity, Courage and Optimism. We are proud of the warm spirit and sense of community that characterises our school family.
Our School campus is located in the leafy inner east suburb of Canterbury, on land originally inhabited by the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, and blends period architecture with exciting contemporary design and state-of-the-art facilities.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Grounds Officer, you will play an important role in maintaining the presentation, safety and functionality of the School’s gardens and grounds. This is a hands-on role involving a broad range of horticultural and grounds maintenance activities, including pruning, planting, mulching, weed control and pest and disease management. You will also support turf maintenance across the School’s ovals and sports fields, and take pride in the day-to-day presentation of the campus, with a strong focus on leaf and debris management.
Reporting to the Senior Grounds Officer, you will assist with minor landscaping projects such as paving, retaining walls and garden bed installations. You will also support the setup and pack-down of sporting facilities and events, both on-site and at external venues.
In this role, you will safely operate and maintain a range of equipment, respond to work requests in a timely manner, and contribute to a proactive and efficient grounds service. A strong commitment to Workplace Health and Safety is essential, including the safe handling, application and storage of chemicals, and the proper use and maintenance of all tools and machinery.
This is a full time, ongoing position, inclusive of the school holiday periods, commencing in June 2026, at a time mutually agreed with the successful candidate.
ABOUT YOU
You are a dependable and hardworking grounds or horticulture professional who takes pride in delivering high-quality outdoor environments. With proven experience working across large-scale gardens, parks or similar open spaces, you bring solid practical skills and a proactive approach to your work.

You are confident operating a range of grounds equipment, and you understand the importance of maintaining equipment in a safe working condition.
Highly organised and reliable, you manage your time effectively and can work both independently and as part of a team. You are adaptable, take direction well and contribute positively to a collaborative school environment.
